GOUD

RESIDENTIAL | 2021

This home is a transition space, a space to thrive, between action and rest. It was designed for the couple, a touring musician and lawyer, to host friends and family, to create in, to dance in, to go away from and come home to.

Located 5 minutes from downtown Victoria, this James Bay house renovation was completed in Spring 2021. The project started as a kitchen renovation, and expanded to include the full house and yard. Our goal was to open the living space to the elements, maximize the kitchen as the heart of the home, and transform the central staircase and storage into a functional piece of art leading up to 3 bedrooms and 2 ensuite bathrooms.

The material palette is soft and minimal, giving the space a zen feeling. Materials include oak millwork, natural stone flooring, off-white textured and glazed brick and tiles, quartz countertops in a fresh concrete, matte black hardware and fixtures, and caning. Every object placed on the shelves and mounted to the walls has special meaning to the couple.

‘I really appreciated the style, continuity, and creative ideas that Kelsey brought to our project. As well as her bringing top notch professionalism and efficiency, working with Kelsey is fun. I wish we could do another project together. I would not hesitate to give Kelsey the first call.’
